The Power of Treatment: How Simple Self-Care Complements Your Journey to Reversing Symptoms
Any treatment — big or small — is a wonderful way to support the changes you’re making while reversing your symptoms.
If you have the chance to visit a professional therapist or enjoy a spa day, that’s fantastic. I absolutely love those moments when I can fully relax and benefit from expert care and all the facilities a spa offers.
But sometimes, I want to experience those soothing benefits in the comfort and privacy of my own home, using ingredients tailored specifically to my needs.
So, here’s a glimpse into my personal home treatment routine — along with the purpose behind each step:

1. Exfoliation
The main goal of exfoliation is to remove dead skin cells while boosting circulation and encouraging lymphatic drainage. You can use any body scrub, but I prefer making my own with just two simple, anti-inflammatory ingredients that you probably already have at home.
Himalayan salt (regular salt works too, but Himalayan salt’s minerals provide extra benefits)
Extra virgin olive oil (rich in antioxidants, it protects skin from free radicals that cause wrinkles and premature aging)
I mix the salt and olive oil in a jar with a lid. When ready, I scoop a small amount into my hands and gently rub it over my body. After rinsing with warm water, I wrap myself in a cozy, fluffy towel and prepare for the next step.
2. Soaking in a Hot Himalayan Salt Bath
Himalayan bath salts are known for their anti-inflammatory properties. Regular soaks not only relax and calm the mind but also help ease joint and muscle pain, reduce stress, and improve emotional well-being.
I add a generous cup of Himalayan salts to my bathtub filled with as hot water as I can comfortably tolerate. Before and after soaking, I make sure to drink plenty of water, since salt baths can be dehydrating.
During the bath, my body undergoes a process called osmosis — absorbing the minerals from the salt while releasing toxins, helping to detoxify and soothe inflammation.
3. Massage with Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Massaging olive oil into the skin strengthens circulation, rejuvenates tissues, and eases pain and inflammation. Topically, olive oil can calm redness and irritation caused by conditions like acne or psoriasis.
If I want to focus on relieving sore joints, I add a few drops of essential oils to the olive oil. Some favourites for inflammation include:
Eucalyptus oil: reduces inflammatory pain
Frankincense (Boswellia): used for thousands of years to relieve chronic pain
Lavender: anti-inflammatory and promotes cell regeneration
Ginger oil: well-known for its powerful anti-inflammatory effects — my personal favourite
Use your sense of smell to guide which essential oil feels right for you. Always dilute essential oils with olive oil before massaging them into your warm, relaxed skin.
This simple routine is a beautiful way to treat your body and support your overall lifestyle changes. Beyond the physical benefits, it’s a powerful act of self-care — letting your body know it deserves to be pampered and nurtured.
I invite you to set aside some time to try this home spa treatment. Light candles, play your favourite music, and create a peaceful environment to fully enjoy the experience.
