One of the questions I’m asked most often is: “What do you eat?”
People want to know what has helped me stay symptom-free from rheumatoid arthritis for 17 years.
The truth is, I focus on eating anti-inflammatory foods that work well with my blood type and support my body naturally. I keep things simple, realistic, and consistent. Over the years, I’ve found a few reliable go-to meals and snacks that make me feel nourished, energised, and balanced.

One combination I come back to again and again is:
Sardines in olive oil
Kimchi with turmeric and ginger
It may sound simple, but this powerful duo is packed with nutrients that help support healing from the inside out.
Sometimes I enjoy it as part of breakfast with poached eggs, or I’ll include it with rice and vegetables for lunch or dinner. It’s quick, satisfying, and full of ingredients known for their anti-inflammatory benefits.
Why These Ingredients Matter
Sardines in Olive Oil
Sardines are one of my favourite anti-inflammatory foods because they are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3s help support joint health, brain function, and overall inflammation balance in the body.
They’re also packed with:
Protein
Calcium
Vitamin D
Selenium
Healthy fats
The olive oil adds another layer of nourishment with heart-healthy fats and antioxidant compounds.
Kimchi with Turmeric and Ginger
Kimchi is a wonderful source of probiotics that help support gut health. Since so much of our immune system is connected to the gut, nourishing your digestive system can have a powerful effect on how you feel overall.
Adding turmeric and ginger makes this combination even more healing.
Turmeric
Turmeric contains curcumin, a natural compound known for its anti-inflammatory properties. It has long been used to support joint comfort and overall wellness.
Ginger
Ginger helps calm inflammation while also supporting digestion and circulation. It’s one of those ingredients that seems to benefit the entire body.
Feeding the Gut and Brain
What I love most about this combination is that it supports both the gut and the brain. When we feed the body with nutrient-dense, anti-inflammatory foods, we give ourselves the opportunity to heal, repair, and function better each day.
Healing doesn’t always come from complicated routines. Sometimes it’s the small daily habits — the foods we consistently choose — that make the biggest difference over time.
For me, these ingredients have become part of a lifestyle that helps me stay balanced, symptom-free, and connected to my health naturally.
